Welcome to the farm Howard!

Today was the big day. Our "giant" redwood tree that we hand carried back from the Redwood Forest in California 4 years ago was finally transplanted to his permanent home on the farm. We bought him as a gift for grandma, he was just a tiny twig, but quickly outgrew his pot and was too big for her condo so she "gifted" him back to us. He's been growing in our kitchen for the past two years but started turning a little brown on the edges this spring, it was time for a transplant. Farmer Dave secured him next to the blueberry patch and encircled him with deer resistant (we hope) green fencing and stakes. Welcome to the farm Howard... grow, grow, grow!

TRIVIA: Why is his name Howard? Named after Ron Howard (ya know the red haired little kid from the Andy Griffith Show--among other famous things). Red hair-Redwood tree, see the connection?
